At the end of the story, it is stated that Annette and Steven are in love and Jeffrey is in remission. I first read this book by one of my all-time favorite authors, oh, twenty years ago or so.

It's not a genre that I would read all the time but it was a reasonably good Christianity type book. In this captivating novel based on actual events in Alberta, Canada, Janette Oke provides an exciting glimpse into an often misunderstood time in history.
The message of God was strong throughout the book, which was something that I enjoy seeing. At one point, Steven's mom becomes sick, so Steven and his father have to take Jeffrey to his treatment. Low-key Christian message one of the white men is a missionary and an even lower-key romantic thread.
Just follow the drum notation, listen to the CD to hear how the drums should sound, and then play along using the separate, sound-alike backing tracks! There is a romance too.
If you are serious about learning to play the drums, combine these drum books with private lessons and effective practice at home. Overall I'd give this book a 3. Annette clearly has a crush on Steven, but he is oblivious. She has an unknown crush on Steven but sees that he likes Renee, and is sad, but not hopeless.
It's never a good sign when instead of being lost in the story, you're acutely aware of the author. For drummers, salsa music is an incredible opportunity to incorporate a wide variety of beats in an exciting, danceable context Steven is a really good student and has a normal life but when his little brother Jeffrey is diagnosed with cancer everything changes.
